Far more vital and important than academics is habit training. Our habits determine our character. After all, we are what we repeatedly do. The habits of the child form the character of the adult.
Charlotte Mason tells us it is far easier to form a good habit than to untrain a bad habit.
She says, “The child who starts out with, say, 20 good habits begins with a certain capital which he will lay out to endless profit as the years go on.”
Some habits take only a few weeks to train, others may take months. If we focus on four habits each year, one every three months, our children will be well on the way to procuring 20 or more good habits that will give them every advantage in life.
Below are articles on how to train a few of the important habits Charlotte Mason mentions in The Charlotte Mason Original Homeschool Series.
