Charlotte Mason Homeschool Manual
A Practical Guide to a Living Education
(Coming Soon!)
We were told education was what happened in schools.
The scope and sequence. The worksheets. The tests you cram for and forget. The twelve years of sitting still, memorizing facts, and spitting them back for a grade. Most of us were raised inside that system, so we assume it's simply what education is. Do it a little better at home, we think, and our children will get a great education.
You were told wrong. Hoodwinked. Programmed.
That system was never built to educate your child.
It was built in the early 1900s, modeled on the Prussian schools designed to produce obedient soldiers and factory workers. The goal was compliance, not genius.
Celebrated school teacher, John Taylor Gatto said, “I've concluded that genius is as common as dirt.”
He concluded that the school system was designed to suppress genius.
Scientific research shows this to be true. Researchers contracted by NASA tested the same children from age five into adulthood. After years in the system, they saw the alarming results. Those who scored at "creative genius" level collapse from 98 percent to 2 percent as they moved through school.
Your child was created to discover, explore, and walk in their unique genius.
Charlotte Mason knew it a hundred years ago. She gives us a better way. A way of educating our children that today's research keeps confirming.
A living education. Charlotte Mason Homeschool Manual will tell you how and why it works.
I know it works because I watched it. I homeschooled four children on this method. Every one of them to a “Public Ivy” university on scholarship.
When they were young, I wrote my Apologia science curriculum using Charlotte Mason’s methods. Why? Because there was no science that honored the genius of a child and offered them a living way of learning. That’s why it became the number one best-selling science curriculum.
For almost thirty years I've spoken to parents across the country and heard the same plea:
I believe this. I want this. I just don't know how to actually do it.
This is the book that answers that plea.
Inside the pages of my Charlotte Mason Homeschool Manual you'll learn how to:
• Choose books that inspire rather than dull a child's mind
• Use methods that enable your children to genuinely remember what they learned — and become natural writers and speakers
• Keep lessons short and still cover more than any workbook ever could
• Easily and simply teach several ages at once
• Build habits of attention, obedience, and self-motivation that carry into adulthood
• Bring nature study, poetry, picture study, and music into an ordinary week
• Trade fear and busywork for a peaceful, joyful home your children will want to come back to
You don't need a teaching degree. You simply need to deprogram the idea that that the factory model is the right way. Choose the educational model that draws out the genius God already placed in your child.
If you want your children to love learning for the rest of their lives, this book will help you achieve that.
